Affordable Housing Coalition of San Diego County v. City of San Diego (Plaza Hotel) (2019)

Affordable Housing Coalition of San Diego County v. City of San Diego (Plaza Hotel) (2019)

Reason for Suing: The Affordable Housing Coalition of San Diego County sued to prevent the New Plaza Hotel from being converted from a relatively affordable single-room-occupancy (SRO) hotel rooms to a high-end tourist hotel without providing replacement housing.  The conversion would eliminate 185 SRO hotel rooms and exacerbate an already dire situation for people in need of such housing.  Since 2000, the City has lost more than 10,000 SRO hotel rooms.

Status: The case is still pending.

Documents: Superior Court Complaint.
